Product Details
1100-O aluminum sheet is a commercially pure aluminum material in the 1000 series, known for its extremely high aluminum content, excellent corrosion resistance, and outstanding formability. The “O temper” indicates a fully annealed condition, giving the material maximum softness and ductility.
Because of its excellent workability and corrosion resistance, 1100-O aluminum sheet is widely used in chemical equipment, food processing, electrical applications, and general sheet metal fabrication.
Chemical Composition of 1100 Aluminum
1100 aluminum is a high-purity aluminum alloy, with aluminum content above 99%.
| Element | Content (%) | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminum (Al) | ≥ 99.0 | Base metal, primary performance source |
| Silicon (Si) | ≤ 0.95 | Controls impurity level |
| Iron (Fe) | ≤ 0.95 | Impurity control |
| Copper (Cu) | ≤ 0.05 | Slight strength improvement |
| Other elements | ≤ 0.15 | Trace impurities |
👉 The extremely high purity gives 1100 excellent corrosion resistance and formability, but low mechanical strength.
What Does “O Temper” Mean?
The “O temper” (annealed condition) means:
- Fully softened structure
- Maximum ductility
- Low internal stress
- Easy forming and bending
Key characteristics of 1100-O:
- Very soft and easy to process
- Excellent deep drawing capability
- High elongation
- Low strength but high plasticity
Mechanical Properties of 1100-O
Typical properties:
- Tensile strength: ~ 90–110 MPa
- Yield strength: very low (~ 30–50 MPa)
- Excellent elongation
- Excellent corrosion resistance
- Very good thermal and electrical conductivity
👉 It is one of the most formable aluminum materials available.
1100-O vs Other 1000 Series Aluminum Alloys
1. 1100 vs 1050 / 1060
| Property | 1100 | 1050 / 1060 |
|---|---|---|
| Purity | Very high | Higher (slightly purer) |
| Strength | Similar | Slightly lower |
| Formability | Excellent | Excellent |
| Conductivity | Good | Better |
| Application | General use | Electrical, chemical |
👉 1050/1060 are slightly purer and better for conductivity, while 1100 is more commonly used for fabrication.
2. 1100 vs 3003
| Property | 1100 | 3003 |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | Low | Medium |
| Corrosion resistance | Excellent | Good |
| Formability | Excellent | Very good |
| Structural use | Limited | Better |
👉 3003 is stronger, while 1100 is softer and more formable.
3. 1100 vs 5052
| Property | 1100 | 5052 |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | Very low | Medium |
| Corrosion resistance | Excellent | Excellent |
| Marine use | Limited | Good |
| Formability | Excellent | Very good |
