Product Details
1100-O aluminum sheet is a commercially pure aluminum sheet in the fully annealed condition. With aluminum content of 99.0% or higher, it provides excellent formability, corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity, and welding performance. This makes it suitable for deep drawing, food containers, chemical equipment, reflectors, and decorative applications.
The “O” temper means the aluminum has been fully annealed to achieve the softest condition. Compared with strain-hardened 1100-H14, 1100-O aluminum sheet is selected when maximum forming ability is more important than strength.
What Is 1100-O Aluminum Sheet?
1100 aluminum belongs to the 1000 series pure aluminum family. It contains very high aluminum content with only small amounts of alloying elements, providing excellent corrosion resistance and electrical performance.
1100 = Commercially pure aluminum alloy
O = Fully annealed temper for maximum softness and formability
1100 Aluminum Chemical Composition
The high aluminum purity gives 1100-O excellent corrosion resistance and surface finishing performance. Unlike heat-treatable alloys, 1100 aluminum gains strength mainly through cold working rather than heat treatment.
| Element | Typical Content |
|---|---|
| Aluminum (Al) | ≥99.0% |
| Copper (Cu) | 0.05-0.20% |
| Other Elements | Small controlled amounts |
1100-O Aluminum Sheet Mechanical Properties
The O temper provides the lowest strength and highest ductility among common 1100 conditions. It is widely selected for applications requiring deep drawing and complex forming.
| Property | Typical Value |
|---|---|
| Tensile Strength | Approximately 75-105 MPa |
| Elongation | 30% or higher |
| Temper | O (Fully Annealed) |
| Density | Approximately 2.71 g/cm³ |

Applications of 1100-O Aluminum Sheet
The combination of softness, corrosion resistance, and clean surface appearance makes this material suitable for many industrial and commercial uses.
| Application | Reason for Selection |
|---|---|
| Food Containers | Non-toxic surface and corrosion resistance |
| Chemical Equipment | Resistance to many chemical environments |
| Reflectors | High reflectivity and finishing quality |
| Deep Drawing Parts | Excellent elongation and forming ability |
1100-O vs 1100-H14 Aluminum Sheet
Both materials use the same aluminum alloy, but their mechanical properties are different because of temper processing. The selection depends on whether forming or strength is the priority.
| Comparison | 1100-O | 1100-H14 |
|---|---|---|
| Condition | Fully annealed | Strain hardened |
| Strength | Lower | Higher |
| Formability | Excellent | Moderate |
| Main Use | Deep drawing and complex forming | Panels and general fabrication |
Surface Treatment of 1100-O Aluminum Sheet
Due to its high purity, 1100 aluminum provides excellent surface finishing performance. It can be anodized, polished, or coated depending on appearance requirements.
- Anodizing: improves surface protection and appearance.
- Polishing: creates a bright reflective finish.
- Coating: adds color and additional protection.
Deep Drawing Performance of 1100-O Aluminum
The soft temper condition makes 1100-O suitable for deep drawing tests and prototype development. Manufacturers often use sample testing before mass production of formed components.
Deep drawing containers, formed covers, reflectors, and customized aluminum parts requiring maximum ductility.
