Main Cutting Methods for Stainless Steel Sheet
1. Laser Cutting
Laser cutting uses a high-energy beam to melt and vaporize stainless steel.

High precision and smooth edges
Small heat-affected zone
Suitable for thin to medium thickness
Ideal for complex shapes
Typical Thickness Range: 0.5 – 20 mm
2. Plasma Cutting
Plasma cutting uses a high-temperature ionized gas jet to cut metal.
Advantages:
Fast cutting speed
Suitable for medium to thick plates
Lower cost than laser for thick materials
Typical Thickness Range: 3 – 50 mm
3. Water Jet Cutting
Water jet cutting uses high-pressure water mixed with abrasive particles.

No heat-affected zone
No material hardening or distortion
Extremely precise edges
Suitable for all thicknesses

4. Shearing (Guillotine Cutting)
Shearing uses mechanical blades to cut sheets in straight lines.

No heat input

5. Saw Cutting
Band saws or circular saws are used for thicker stainless steel sheets and plates.

6. Oxy-Fuel Cutting (Not Recommended for Stainless Steel)
Oxy-fuel is not suitable for stainless steel due to chromium oxidation and poor edge quality. Plasma or water jet is preferred instead.
