Surface Processing and Manufacturing Process
The production of painted aluminum sheets involves a multi-stage coating and curing process to ensure strong adhesion and uniform surface quality.
1. Aluminum Sheet Preparation
- Common base alloys include 1050, 3003, 5052, and 6061
- The sheet is first cleaned to remove oil, dust, and oxide layers
- Degreasing and chemical cleaning ensure a uniform surface for coating adhesion
2. Surface Pretreatment
- Chemical conversion coating (chromate or non-chromate) is applied
- This step improves corrosion resistance and enhances paint adhesion
- A stable micro-layer is formed on the aluminum surface
3. Primer Coating
- A primer layer is applied using coil coating or spray coating systems
- The primer improves bonding between aluminum substrate and topcoat

4. Top Coating Application
- Decorative paint layers are applied, commonly including:
- Polyester (PE) coating: economical, indoor use
- Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) coating: high weather resistance, outdoor facades

- Coating is applied evenly using roller coating lines for consistency
5. Baking and Curing
- Coated sheets pass through high-temperature curing ovens
- Paint layers are hardened to form a durable protective film
- Ensures strong adhesion, color stability, and weather resistance
6. Protective Film Application
- A removable plastic film is often applied to the surface
- Protects against scratches during transport and installation
- Removed after installation to reveal the finished surface
