5052 O aluminum sheet is a common Al-Mg alloy in the 5000 series. It is widely used in applications requiring excellent formability, high corrosion resistance, and easy processing. The “O” temper represents the fully annealed (soft) condition, which is the most ductile state of this alloy.

How 5052 O Temper is Formed
The “O” condition is created through a full annealing process, which softens the material.
Manufacturing Process:
- Cold rolling or hot rolling
- The aluminum sheet is first processed to required thickness
- Solution heating (annealing)
- Material is heated to a specific temperature range
- Internal stress is eliminated
- Controlled cooling
- Slow cooling allows microstructure to stabilize
- Material becomes soft and ductile

The O temper is widely used because:

After forming, the material can be strengthened into H temper states if needed.
