Manufacturing Process of Corten Steel Planters
1. Cutting
Corten steel sheets are cut to size using precise methods such as:
Laser cutting – for clean edges and complex designs
Plasma cutting – suitable for thicker sheets
Water jet cutting – ideal for precise shapes without heat distortion
2. Bending / Folding
Sheets are bent or folded using press brakes to create corners and edges.

3. Welding / Assembly
Components are joined using MIG or TIG welding.
Provides structural strength and durability, especially for larger planters that hold soil and plants.
4. Drainage Preparation
Drainage holes are added at the bottom to prevent water accumulation.
Supports healthy plant growth by allowing proper soil drainage.
5. Surface Treatment / Patina Formation
The steel is left to oxidize naturally, forming the characteristic rusted protective layer.
The patina protects the planter from further corrosion and enhances its aesthetic appeal.
The oxidation process can be accelerated with controlled treatments if required.
6. Optional Finishing
Edges may be smoothed or rounded for safety.
