Abrasion Resistant Metal

Abrasion resistant metal is significantly harder and more wear-resistant than ordinary mild steel, but this also makes it more challenging to process. It requires specialized cutting methods such as plasma, laser, or waterjet, and controlled welding and forming techniques.

Abrasion resistant metals include a wide range of materials such as AR400–AR500 wear plates, high manganese steel (Mn13/Mn18), and chromium carbide overlay plates. Each material has a different balance of hardness, toughness, and impact resistance.
